Side Plank Form

Are you tired wiggling and wobbling all around during your side planks? Are you thinking to yourself: what do I do with my feet? What do I do with my hands? Where do I look?

We got you.

As simple and universal as the side plank is, many people struggle with form and positioning. We love this underrated exercise and we hammer it in our entire continuum of programming, from rehab to performance.

In addition to the core and obliques, the side plank position offers tremendous opportunities to work on external rotation strength of the hip and shoulder. After all, there’s no such thing as too much glute and rotator cuff strength!

The side plank technique tip video offers a fast track for coaching the side plank. See how Sam and Teddy coach it, and what form aspects are important to them. We go over straight leg side planks, as well as the short side plank position.

If you struggle with balance and comfort on this exercise, or you want to be better at coaching it for others, this video is for you!
